But here’s the headline: Health Canada’s own report shows that vaping is helping tens of thousands of Canadians quit smoking. • 21% of successful quitters used e-cigarettes • That’s roughly 63,000 people • With vaping available, projected smoking rates drop from 8.5% to 5.1% by 2035 Meanwhile: • Youth vaping has declined • Retail compliance has improved • Smoking still claims 46,000 Canadian lives every year The real policy question isn’t whether nicotine disappears overnight. It’s whether harm reduction saves lives. For the 300,000 Canadians who quit last year, the method mattered less than the result.
