Tarmizi Anuwar is the Country Associate for Malaysia at the Consumer Choice Center, where he focuses on monitoring regulatory trends and conducting research to suggest policy improvements in areas such as fit for growth, lifestyle choice and tech innovation for both the public and policymakers. Previously, he worked as the Projects and Operations Manager at the Institute for Leadership and Development Studies (LEAD), a Malaysian think tank dedicated to promoting alternative policy solutions and practices based on market principles.
Tarmizi graduated with a Bachelor of Education in Physical Education from Universiti Putra Malaysia in 2012 and later earned a Master of Arts in Human Rights and Democratisation in 2019 from Mahidol University, Thailand, on a European Commission scholarship.
He is also actively involved in consultancy and training for public policy in Malaysia. His projects include working on political financing mechanisms and reforms (2020-2021) with the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs, enhancing state-level good governance (2019-2021) with the International Republican Institute, and contributing to public policy design courses in the Young Statesman Program (2023) with University College of Yayasan Pahang.
