Tobacco Harm Reduction
Tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of cancer and cancer deaths. About 3 in 10 cancer deaths are caused by cigarette smoking. Quitting tobacco use at any age can reduce the risk of getting or dying from cancer, and harm reduction products and technologies such as Vaping, Heat not Burn and Snus can help consumers reduce their exposure to risk and quit smoking altogether.
Vaping in particular has helped millions of smokers switch thereby lowering their health-associated risks. The U.K.’s top health body, Public Health England, has repeatedly said that vaping and e-cigarettes are 95 percent less harmful than smoking. The same conclusion has been drawn by the New Zealand Ministry of Health and Health Canada, which have both launched public initiatives imploring smokers to turn to vaping.
The effectiveness of e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool is undeniable. Vaping is twice as effective as nicotine replacement therapies.
That is why the Consumer Choice Center created in partnership with the World Vaper’s Alliance, the infographic below, showing how many tobacco consumers could benefit from a healthier lifestyle if vaping was to be liberalised around the world.
