WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The fallout from the Signal App group chat on national security is putting more eyes on the app and encrypted messaging apps
In a very digital age, and more of people’s information online, experts said the search for more forms of privacy is growing.
Deputy Director of the Consumer Choice Center, Yaël Ossowski said the entire encryption messaging space has ballooned over the years.
“It’s now very popular and encryption is now the gold standard,” said Ossowski, who specializes in consumer privacy.
Ossowski added that encryption is pretty much the standard for every messenger.
“If you’re on Facebook messenger, that is the standard. if you’re using WhatsApp that is now the standard. So, something that started out, you know, just for the privacy and the cyberpunk hackers many years ago is now a standard for everyone,” said Ossowski.
